Charles Nabit

Over a more than four-decade career, Charles Nabit has developed diverse experience across the fields of real estate and health care. A graduate of Marshall-Wythe School of Law (now William & Mary Law School), he got his start with Baltimore law firm Venable, Baetjer and Howard. Hired as an associate in the corporate department, Charles Nabit spent a year focusing on bankruptcies and financing bonds.

 

Mr. Nabit later transitioned to the firm’s real estate department. Working there for the next two years, he assisted clients with matters related to development, zoning, tax appeals, and civil litigation. He subsequently leveraged this experience to begin serving in 1983 as the managing partner of the Westport Group. Still in this role today, he oversses the investment’s partnerships interests in securities and real estate.

 

In 1990, while busy leading the Westport Group, Charles Nabit became the chairman and chief executive officer of Developmental Disability Management Services (DDMS). Under his direction, this firm provided operational and financial services to facilities caring for people with developmental disabilities. He guided DDMS until 2022, and his long career in the healthcare industry saw him establish and grow a variety of healthcare facilities.

 

Charles Nabit’s background also includes serving as chairman and chief executive officer of Southport Financial. Under his leadership since 1999, this firm provides a range of services to healthcare and financial firms. Along with his responsibilities at Southport Financial, he manages the giving of the Nabit Foundation as the family foundation’s president.

 

Before beginning his career, Mr. Nabit graduated from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary with a 3.5 GPA. He also excelled academically as an undergraduate at the University of the South, graduating magna cum laude and earning entry to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
